SeaChange Digital TV

Viewers want to watch what they like, when they want, and find their favorite programs with just a press of a button. They want seamless integration of their cable, satellite, terrestrial and even IPTV services. They want to be able to watch TV wherever they are, whether it’s on the TV in the living room, the PC in the office or their mobile phone on the train.

Problem

SeaChange International (EMEA) is market leader in metadata solutions for linear broadcasting and video on demand. Customers that are using their products are typically broadcasters, cable companies and hotels like, UPC, Inea, Casema, BBC, and RTL. In broadcasting digital television there are of course the sound and the images. But there is also a third component, called metadata. Often overlooked, metadata makes sure that the set-top box or digital TV can unravel a television channel from the digital stream it receives. It allows a viewer to select a program from the electronic program guide or search a VoD catalogue.

Solution

In 2006 the development of a VoD back-office solution was started that allows customers to have total control of all of their VoD processes like content ingestion, product definition, asset encryption and asset transcoding. The product was named PRODIS.

In 2010 I joined the team after SeaChange International had a lot of new features in mind and received many new feature requests from different customers that were already using the VoD back-office solution. Implementing new features like multiscreen, allows the customer to support VoD on different devices like a set-top box, mobile device and desktop computer.
